St James's Place is proud to partner with Young Money to build financial confidence and resilience in young people and communities across the UK.
“SJP are committed to supporting and improving the financial wellbeing of our clients, our people, and our communities. Financial education is a key building block in achieving this, and in partnering with Young Money we can enable young people across the UK to build brighter financial futures”.
St James’s Place have committed to sponsoring 21 schools across the UK through the Young Money ‘Centres of Excellence’ programme in the next three years. Our sponsorship will help to fund one-on-one advice from an expert education consultant, staff training and access to financial education resources for each school. In addition to this funding, each school will be partnered with an SJP office location who will work with the school to give additional support such as work experience opportunities, mentoring, community volunteering and more.
Our funding has also provided IMD 1-4 schools free access to financial education lesson plans. Over 79 schools have benefitted from these resources to date.
We’ve also supported Young Money in commissioning a piece of research into understanding the unique financial education support and training needs of SEND setting teachers.
Partnership Impact on the young people we support
We know that people’s financial behaviours can be set as soon as aged 7, so early intervention is vital. By supporting young children across the country to develop long-term financial skills and improve their confidence in managing money, we can help them to unlock healthier financial futures for themselves.
Partnership Ambitions
Looking ahead, we plan to use the analysis from the research into financial education in SEND settings to support the development of a new SEND teacher training and support offer.
How is Young Enterprise supporting St James’s Place?
Working with Young Money not only aligns with our mission to build greater financial well-being and confidence for all our stakeholders, but it also gives us an opportunity to give back and build connections across the SJP community. Whether that’s through hosting Young Enterprise events in our offices, volunteering in schools, judging competitions or attending a roundtable.
We were delighted to host the Young Enterprise ‘Company Programme’ 2023 finals in our Bristol offices. It was fantastic to see so many young people embracing the spirit of entrepreneurship and teamwork to deliver innovative business propositions, and we left the day feeling inspired by the future talent entering the workplace.
Staff Engagement
Every member of the SJP community has a role to play in this partnership. Whether that’s delivering financial education in schools, supporting as volunteers at Young Enterprise events or raising our voice at policy roundtables.
