Last year, Young Enterprise commissioned the report, ‘What Applied Learning Really Looks Like’ to explore the benefits, challenges and solutions to embedding applied learning into teaching practice. This includes examples of applied learning supporting financial education in schools.
We have now followed this up with a newly published brochure and webpage on applied learning, setting out a definition and exploring its potential as a cost-effective way of increasing young people’s engagement with the topic and improving their financial capability to better prepare them for the real world.
Linked to above, we have written an open letter to Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt and Rt Hon Gillian Keegan with three asks to support greater uptake of applied learning across the education system. We are inviting organisations with an interest in this important area to co-sign the letter which will go a long way to increasing the impact of this cause. We would be very grateful for your support. Please find more information at the link here.

Young Enterprise has partnered with digital investment firm, Wealthify, to create Future Skills: a fun teaching resource designed to help teach 16 to 18-year-olds about the basics of money.
Our annual teacher conference will be taking place on 6th December in central London. The theme for this year’s event will be applied learning, and we will be hearing from practitioners who have successfully embedded practical learning experiences into their curriculum.
