Inspiring Futures

Inspiring Futures (IF) is a fully funded package of Young Enterprise programmes focused on providing young people who may experience some of the greatest barriers to social mobility with opportunities that can inspire, motivate and change mindsets.

Through active and applied learning opportunities, we enable young people to develop a range of crucial transferable skills as well as a deep understanding of the relevance of classroom learning within the world of work.

Key Facts

  • Suitable for 15 – 19 year olds
  • Particularly focused on young people who may experience the greatest barriers to social mobility:
    • Are at risk of becoming disengaged with learning
    • Eligible for free school meals
    • Are at risk of persistent absence
    • In receipt of pupil premium
    • Experience challenges that mean they may have limited access to opportunities
  • Flexible duration from 12 weeks up to one academic year

The Inspiring Futures Package

  • Up to 32 students can participate on Company Programme, including mentoring support from one of our volunteers
  • All Students will be encouraged to take part in a reflective session, highlighting the transferable skills obtained from taking part in Company Programme
  • Each Inspiring Futures school has free access to our digital programmes on the Young Enterprise Learning Zone to use more widely across the school
  • All Inspiring Futures Company Programme participants will receive free access to our Opportunities Hub, providing a range of next step opportunities

Outcomes

The combination of programmes and opportunities within Inspiring Futures have been carefully selected to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Raise aspirations and goals
  • Increase engagement in learning
  • Gain an appreciation of how classroom learning is applied in the world of work
  • Develop a range of key transferable skills such as resilience, confidence, communication, and teamwork
  • Instill an understanding of how these skills, and the experience of work gained, can be used to successfully navigate future pathways

Impact

Inspiring Futures young people key outcomes from last academic year:

  • 100% now understood the value of what they learnt in school lessons
  • 92% felt more resilient
  • 83% had confidence in managing money
  • 82% improved in confidence
