England Illegal Money Lending

The England Illegal Money Lending or Stop Loan Shark team as we are more commonly known as, are a government law enforcement agency and the only team in the country that have the powers to investigate, prosecute & convict loan sharks as well as providing specialist support to borrowers and anyone affected by them.

Using the Proceeds Of Crime Act we are allowed to seize and sell the assets of loan sharks and we use our share of this money in various ways, for example to re-compensate victims, provide incentive schemes for credit unions and also to provide community project grants to anyone and any organisation.

We also use part of this money to provide free Young Money approved education packs for both primary & secondary schools along with a wide range of additional free resources that can be used by schools to promote the dangers of loan sharks to staff, students & parents.  In addition our LIAISE officers can also provide face to face or remote awareness talks, school visits with our mascots Sid the Shark or Glenda the Lender and schools can make use of our newsletters and social media posts as well as applying for one of our grants or applying to become a partner under our Partner Recognition Scheme.
